Samsung Solstice aka Samsung SGH-A887 is touch sensitive handset that is available for $100 with service contract from AT&T. The handset doesn’t offer many high end or advanced features but offers mediocre features that are suitable to a casual user.

Measuring 4.3 inches high, 2.1 inches wide and 0.5 inch deep, the Samsung Solstice offers attractive design with rounded corners. The handset weighs just 3.3 ounces but the overall build quality is pretty good. The handset doesn’t look flimsy and provides solid feel when held in hand.
As the reviews, the Solstice boasts of a large 3-inch display, which has native resolution of 400×240 pixels and supports 262k color hues. The perfect display resolution makes the graphics and images look lively and saturated with brilliant colors. The navigation experience is enhanced by the inclusion of Samsung’s TouchWiz interface which features icon-based menu interface.
Like many other Samsung handsets, the Solstice also features dialpad and QWERTY keyboard, supported by the T9 predictive text, which provides great texting experience. The handset also features accelerometer, which is quite useful for working with various applications. The accelerometer allows you to switch between dialpad and keyboard. The Solstice also supports motion-detection feature, which automatically mute a call or alarm when the phone is placed upside down.
The only physical controls on the handset include a Back key, Talk button, and the End/power key. All these controls are located below the display. The left spine houses the volume rocker, while the right spine houses the combined headset/charger jack along with camera shutter button and key that allows you to access menu for music application, Web browser, messaging application, dialpad and games menu.
The basic features of Solstice include 2,000-contact phone book, text messaging, MMS, vibrate mode, speakerphone, stopwatch, alarm clock, world clock, calendar, calculator, tip calculator, memo pad, timer, task list, currency and unit converter. The advanced features include IM, voice dialing, voice commands, voice memo recorder, support for POP3 e-mail, USB mass storage, PC syncing, support for AT&T Navigator, file manager, and stereo Bluetooth.
The Solstice supports a 2-megapixel camera, which is capable of taking pictures in five resolutions and four quality settings. Other camera features include video recording in two resolutions, self-timer, four color effects, white balance presets, exposure metering, and much more.

Thanks for posting. Samsung Solstice SGH-A887 phone is one of my dream phone. It comes packed with nice features and design. I like the icon based menu and the qwerty keyboard which makes typing very comfortable. The audio quality is average, this cell phone is not made for the music lovers. sensitive, accurate screen, thin but durable, very light, bright screen, enough options for the average user, creative contacts list.plenty of ring tones.
The Samsung Solstice lacks instant messaging and the memory card slot is behind the battery. Call quality, browser speed, and video performance are unimpressive.
