Microsoft’s Silverlight will be available soon on the Google Android G1 and the iPhone. For your info, Microsoft’s Silverlight has been in use on the Web by companies including NBC to stream video from this summer’s Olympic games and is Adobe Flash’s main contender in the multimedia rich browser plug-ins. Kevin Rose, the founder of Digg.com who also had accurate word of the Core 2 Duo Macbook and Macbook Pro, has confirmed the availability of Apple iPhone. The iPhone will be launched in January on all CDMA and GSM providers. Available in 4GB or 8GB capacities, the phone will feature a slide-out keypad, touch screen display, Flash memory, and a custom OS. The 4GB version will retail for US$249, while the 8GB will retail for US$449.

Rumors of an Apple Phone have been ongoing for years with Apple laying claim to the domain iPhone.org since 1999 and the trademark for iPhone in 2002. MacRumors has a picture of iPhone prototype. This prototype could be the actual iPhone. It will come in three colors and has an iPod Nano-inspired design. Other specifications have not yet been released.
