Garmin-Asus has eventually made an official announcement of their Nuvifone in Asia. Garmin-Asus has finally and officially released its Nuvifone G60 phone. The G60 will be available in Taiwan on July 27, 2009. Meanwhile, the phone will be also released in Singapore and Malaysia in August 2009. Also in August, Garmin-Asus will launch the Windows Mobile Nuvifone M20 smartphone in Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand. There is no info on pricing of these handsets. Both the G60 and the M20 will be launched in Europe later this year. The Nuvifone G60 will be available in the States before the end of 2009.

Asus has rolled out its latest Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone, the P835. The phone is equipped with a 3.5-inch WVGA (800×480) touchscreen display, a 528MHz Qualcomm 7201A processor, a 5 megapixel AutoFocus camera, 4GB of internal storage, a microSDHC card slot, a Blackberry-like trackball, a pre-loaded Opera Mobile for web surfing, and the company’s new and improved Glide user interface. The handset also comes with 3G networking over 7.2Mbps HSUPA and supports GPS navigation, Bluetooth, as well as WiFi.

Asus’ chairman Jonney Shih has confirmed the Asus Eee phone in a recent interview with the New York Times. Shih said that almost every flat surface could become a display in the future. We will use televisions to surf the Web, watch Internet content but that content will also be available on displays built into walls and mirrors. Other details are scarce, but rumours persist that the Eee Phone will launch in the first half of 2009.

Asus have announced its new Z801 which is said to be the coolest phone. The Z801 looks glorious with its chess-board styled phone keys and Sapphire Quartz mirrored surface. It comes with 2MP digicam, 260k colour QVGA screen, MP3 player, tri-band connectivity, A2DP, and karaoke function. Too bad! Asus Z801 Karaoke phone is available only in China. We don’t know yet when this handset will reach the US shore. I hope it will also come to the UK.

FCC has approved the ASUS P525 quad-band PDA phone. This phone is available in Taiwan about 2 months back in June. It features 416MHz Intel XScale processor, 128MB Flash ROM and 64MB SDRAM, 2.8 inch, 240 x 320 pixels, 65,000 TFT screen, 2MP camera with auto focus and flash light, miniSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, push e-mail, and voice recognition feature.
