The Nokia 888 Communicator is a striking futuristic concept phone which uses liquid batteries, speech recognition, flexible touchscreen and touch-sensitive body cover. It is designed by Tamer Nakisci and won the Nokia Design Award.
Cell phone producers show us every year some really superb concept phones and even if 99% of those phones never see the production line they give us a small glimpse of what the phones will look like in a not so distant future. Just remember that these are concept phones, which means they are not in production and are not for sale.
Esato user tob!s has designed the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X5 (codename: Nadine) concept as the successor to the Android-powered Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3. No one can deny the power of 2. Two heads are supposed to be better than one. The number 2 is the smallest prime number and the only even one. It’s also the most divisible number. If that weren’t enough evidence, 2 is the number of DNA strands that make up the double helix structure. The common denominator here is the number 2 denotes cooperation and that’s where the Duofone concept begins.
The Duofone looks like any other slick concept but this time, it’s not about megapixels, or screen resolution, or even smartphone abilities. It’s about putting...
The idea of Revol is to portray it as a stylish timepiece. As such, the conventional hour and minute hands are replaced with revolving disc. The clock face is sculpted in a slight cone shape to give it more dimension. Main frame is encased in polycarbonate with a gloss finish while the strap is of matt silicone to give it a nice contrast. Numeric markings are removed to reinforce its simplistic style.
Darklabel | Retroxis – As far as mobile phones are concerned, there are certain inevitable desires such as dimensions, weight and style. Retroxis reflects...
The design of your phone is the result of countless business plans, TCO and ROI analyses. The CUin5 is the bizarro world version of that business plan. Every face includes a keypad, microphone and speaker.
The “super-practical” interface is also one of several sci-fi design hybrids— or Design Fictions—that will be included in branko Lukic’s upcoming book titled non.object. Lukic knows what he’s talking about: he spent 5 years at frog Design and then moved to IDEO where he designed products like the TaylorMade r500 golf club and...
There have been pen phone concepts before, even a few working products, but none as slim and small as this one sent us by an anonymous tipster. He told us this “design A” is not a finished product yet, and added that the undisclosed company he’s working for wants to gauge interest in such a device. While most users will connect the phone to Bluetooth earpieces, those two target-shaped areas on the top and bottom are earpiece and receiver. So far, so good. What do you think, readers?
BenQ is still making phones in Asia, just no longer in the German market. This is one of the concept phones being worked on—the Black Box. No keypads, no buttons, just a big ass touchscreen. From the initial pictures it looks like the interface changes on the fly. I’m digging the black minimalist design overall. It will probably never see the light of day as an actual product, but it is still cool to look at, nonetheless.

In response to an online greener gadgets competition, Dutch designer Gert-Jan van Breugel has conceived a fantastic looking phone with components made from completely recyclable bio-plastic and bamboo.
In his submission Van Breugel quotes some pretty unsettling statistics, including that the environmental impact of making a mobile is 36kg of CO2, and that only about 10% of discarded phones are recycled.
Bamboo is a phone designed to breakdown at the end of its usable life. The bamboo component goes in your compost bin and bamboo seeds inside the case transform...
While not widely acknowledged, introduction of Apple iPhone seems to have sent a shockwave throughout cellphone industry and left major vendors scrambling to produce their own answer to it.
Only LG seems to have had something at least a little bit similar to iPhone with their LG Prada KE850 phone. Other vendors were left churning out the concept phones on YouTube.
And here’s another Asus concept phone – Asus Aura, produced by Hungarian design company Egy Studio for Taiwanese vendor. It was clearly inspired by iPhone, although it has some interesting innovations...
Here’s a concept luxury handset that will probably sell tons if it ever materializes. The BYB Balance cellphone features a slider mechanism that protects the two touchscreen displays when closed. You can flip it over and use the slider to turn the BYB Balance cellphone into a clock or a digital photo frame. Features include a 5.1 megapixel camera with auto focus and 2x optical zoom, 3G/HSDPA connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and a GPS navigation system. Just in case the 512MB internal memory is not enough, there is always a microSD memory card slot...
A little more than three months back, BenQ Siemens showcased its Black Box concept phone to signify its presence in the cellphone industry. Black Box was indeed impressive with its control layout that could change according to the functions we use. But, the latest concept phone from their side is gonna woo you with its astounding make.
While we are short on details on the particular cellular phone, I am just thinking of how to operate this snaky phone. The concept phone looks like a snake and you can wrap it around your wrist.
The looks are cool and captivating...
